Sample Transporters

The sample transporters listed below are especially sturdy, all metal sealed, linear-rotary feedthroughs. Their main purpose is to transport samples between UHV-chambers, using various matching accessories. A set of rare earth magnets on the air- and vacuum side provides the necessary force to ensure a rigid coupling from handle to shaft.

Sample Transporter DN40CF

The RM40 is a simple, all metal sealed, linear-rotary feedthrough for ultra high vacuum applications. It's main purpose is to transport samples in between UHV-chambers. A set of rare earth magnets on the air- and vacuum side provides the necessary force to ensure a rigid coupling from the handle to the inner shaft. Slide bearings guarantee for smooth operation even after numerous bakeout cycles.

The RM40-TSRMKG is linear-rotary sample transporter featuring a cardan shaft with handle. Sample Transporter RM40 with Handwheel Drive

In this configuration an RM40 sample transporter is equipped with a DRVRM manually driven linear actuator, used wherever especially precise manipulation is needed. Linear motion is actuated via a high precision spindle drive that is coupled to the outer magnet of the sample transporter. Sample Transporter RMHS40 with Hollow Shaft

Based on the RM40 sample transporter, it's tubular shaft however being considerably lighter than a solid one, it also helps avoid excessive thermal conductance. It is commonly used as a manipulator for sample insertion into cryogenic SPM's but of course it's lighter hollow shaft offers advantages for other applications as well.

Whenever mounted vertically, for safety reasons it's strongly recommended to use it in combination with an IVBR in-vacuum brake, to prevent the inner shaft from suddenly dropping in case the magnetic coupling should slip from the user's grip. An optional TSRMBD belt drive can facilitate handling once the height of the system and/or length of the sample transporter make it hard to reach and manipulate. Available customized retracted shaft length.

Hollow Shaft Sample Transporter with In-Vacuum Brake

Mounted vertically to the system, it's adjustable IVBR in-vacuum brake adds an important safety measure by applying controlled friction to the inner shaft of the sample transporter. The RMHS40-IVBR is commonly used as a manipulator for sample insertion into cryogenic SPM's but of course it's lighter hollow shaft offers advantages for other applications as well.
