Straight Pincer Ultra SLIM LT AFM for SHOM

The PGWMS(OMUSLIMLTA) has the appropriate groove to fetch Omicron style sample plates and was especially designed to grab and release the AFM tip mounted on the Omicron LT-SPM's special holder. A gap between the jaws makes it possible to squeeze the tip holder, thereby releasing it from it's seat on the sample plate. Releasing the jaws again within the seat, the tip holder regains it's firm fit on the sample plate.

The narrow head of the PGWMS(OMUSLIMLTA) offers better visibility of the sample plate and AFM tip holder. The symmetrically opening and particularly slim jaws are predefined for use where little space is available.

For ultimately precise and safe handling, we recommend the PGWMS(OMUSLIMLTA) be used in combination with a fine adjuster coupling equipped dual shaft wobblestick WMG40(FC)-XXXX-YYYY or MDG40 linear/rotary feedthrough.

This usually results in a leakage, leaving the operator no choice as to replace the wobblestick entirely by a new one. Due to the principle of magnetic coupling, Ferrovac wobblesticks feature a longer lifetime, are operated nearly force-free and are less sensitive to mechanical damage. The original pincer however, is usually in good shape and can be easily dismounted from the old wobblestick and installed to the Ferrovac WMG40 using the ADOMO adapter.

Ideally wobblesticks are mounted on DN40CF flanges with oversize tubes. If no such flange is used, the deflection of WM40 and WMG40 wobblesticks is limited or for an inner diameter of 35mm it is even inhibited. In order to restore some deflection we recommend the use of a BP40. It also enables safer manipulation (no risk of damaging the bellows).

To align the wobblestick we suggest the use of a TSWMA.

Factory Overhaul of WMG40 Wobblestick

The TSWMDL(3) limits the angular deflection of WM40 and WMG40 wobblesticks to three degrees. This limitation is for example useful if a greater angular range could lead to collisions of the wobblestick with other devices in the vacuum chamber.

For bump protection the use of a TSWM Parking-/Protection rail is still recommended.

In order to overcome this problem, we have introduced three slits in the sample plate, while keeping the outline dimensions and compatibility with existing transfer systems and receptors. If placed into the corresponding receptor which features three ruby spheres, our modified SHOM snaps in reproducibly with a precision in the micrometer range.

Accurate temperature measurement is usually problematic with transferrable sample plates. Here, a DT-670 silicon diode is placed right underneath the sample mounting plate. By re-machining the sample mounting plate for a specific sample, it becomes possible to bring the temperature sensor even in direct contact with the actual sample.
